KVM virtual servers

What is a VPS, and what can you do with it?

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) runs its own operating system on a physical host. Compared with shared web hosting, root access gives you control over your software, services and security settings.

Your environment with KVM

ServerQ VPS plans use KVM virtualization. The vCPU, memory and storage specified in your plan are allocated to your virtual server. Install a web server, database, Docker services or development tools around your application.

VPS, VDS or a dedicated server?

VPS and VDS are both used to describe virtual server products. A VDS name alone does not establish exclusive physical CPU cores. Compare virtualization, vCPU allocation, memory, storage and network terms. Choose a dedicated server when you need the entire physical machine.

Resources depend on location

Istanbul and New York have distinct product lines: a matching plan number does not imply the same hardware, memory or storage. Istanbul plans include a monthly transfer allowance. USA plans have no fixed transfer quota and remain subject to fair use. Port speed describes the hypervisor’s shared uplink.

Acceptable use terms

Start with your workload

Resources for your work, beyond a plan name.

A VPS gives you administrative access. Choose a practical path for installing, maintaining and measuring your application.

Websites and WordPress

Run a publishing or business website in your own environment. Themes, plugins and caching change memory requirements, so visitor counts alone are not a sizing rule.

VPS for WordPress

n8n and workflows

Build a workflow environment you manage. Concurrent jobs, processed files and retained execution data determine resource needs. Plan updates and backups from the start.

VPS for n8n

Applications, APIs and development

Choose an operating system and software for Node.js, Python or container applications. Separate test and production data, and consider the network distance between your app and database.

Explore resource requirements

Start at the right scale

Which VPS plan should I choose?

The largest plan is not the right starting point for every project. Consider your workload, room to grow and management needs together.

Start with memory and CPU

Consider the memory used by your application and database together. Leave room for background jobs and changes in demand. Assess vCPU counts alongside the usage you observe in your workload.

Storage holds more than your app

The operating system, database, uploads and logs also consume storage. Allow room for growth and maintenance. Another copy on the same server does not replace a separate backup.

Choose location and transfer together

The locations of your users and connected services matter. Compare Istanbul transfer allowances with USA fair-use terms. The listed port speed describes the hypervisor’s shared uplink, not dedicated bandwidth for the VPS.

If you do not have measurements yet, describe your workload to explore a starting range. Open the VPS plan finder. Check the suggestion against your application’s actual usage.

Know what you are choosing

Your server. Clear responsibilities.

A VPS is a server environment where you can run your application on your terms. Administrative access and application management are different services.

Your plan’s server resources

  • KVM virtualization with the vCPU, memory and storage allocations of your chosen regional plan.
  • Root access to manage your operating system and applications.
  • A client portal for orders and service requests, with English and Turkish ticket support.
  • 99.98% uptime SLA commitment; scope and conditions are in the SLA document.
Read the SLA terms

Running your application

  • Configure operating system updates, access permissions and your firewall.
  • Plan maintenance for your application, database and plugins.
  • Keep separate backups and test restores; check snapshot availability for your plan.
  • Review operating system, control panel and software licence requirements before ordering.
Discuss the scope you need

Istanbul and the USA

Put your server where it makes sense for your users.

Location is more than a point on a map. Consider your visitors as well as the location of your database, payment services and connected APIs.

Istanbul, Türkiye

Consider Istanbul for a primarily Turkish audience or applications connected to services in Türkiye. Compare the resources and prices of Istanbul VPS offers and read the location page for facility information.

Istanbul VPS plans

USA, New York

Consider the USA for projects serving North American users and workflows connected to services in that region. New York offers are separate configurations; choose memory, storage and pricing from their own cards.

USA VPS plans

Latency depends on network routes and client connections. Do not assume a fixed ping from geography alone; assess your application’s user and service paths. A location choice alone does not satisfy an application’s regulatory obligations.

From first steps to operations

From your order to a running application.

  1. Choose location and resources

Choose Istanbul or the USA around your users and application. Compare the cards rather than assuming a similarly named plan has the same resources in both regions.

  2. Check the order summary

Review the product, location, operating system and billing period in the client portal. Service prices include taxes; review any selected licences and extras in the full amount to be charged.

  3. Set up secure access

Use your connection details once the service is ready. Configure updates, user permissions, SSH keys and the firewall before exposing the application.

  4. Measure and plan ahead

Monitor memory, CPU, storage and transfer. When resources need to change, ask support about the process, possible restarts and migration requirements.

Measure your workload

Benchmark it yourself

Measure CPU, storage and network performance on your own server. These examples require sysbench, fio and iperf3; use your own second server’s address for the network test.

CPU

sysbench cpu --cpu-max-prime=20000 --threads=$(nproc) run

The vCPU count depends on your chosen plan. Compare results per core.

NVMe storage

fio --name=rand --ioengine=libaio --direct=1 --bs=4k --iodepth=32 \
  --rw=randread --size=2G --runtime=60 --group_reporting

The number moves with the workload. Run it at your own block size and queue depth — 4k random read is only a starting point.

Network

iperf3 -c <your-second-server> -P 8 -t 30

The remote endpoint and route affect the result. The port figure is the host’s shared uplink, not a dedicated VPS speed. Keep test traffic within your transfer allowance and fair-use terms.

Consider your plan, test settings and workload when reviewing the results. Include the command output in a support ticket if you need help.

Answers before you order

Frequently asked VPS questions.

Are Istanbul and USA plans the same?

Istanbul and New York have separate VPS plans. Each location’s cards list its vCPU, memory, storage, transfer and pricing options. Check the selected location and resources in your order summary.

Which virtualization is used, and are resources allocated to me?

VPS services use KVM virtualization, with the plan’s vCPU, memory and disk allocated to you. vCPU describes the virtual processor allocation. It does not promise a separate physical core or a particular processor clock speed.

How do port speed and transfer allowance differ?

The port rate describes the hypervisor’s main uplink; it does not guarantee sustained throughput for a VPS. Istanbul plans have monthly TB allowances. US plans have no traffic quota and are subject to fair use. Actual transfer speed depends on the route, remote endpoint and current load.

How should I compare monthly and annual billing?

Monthly billing covers one month of service. When an annual option is available, the plan shows the full 12-month total and any saving. Compare the total for your chosen term and its renewal conditions when planning your budget.

Is an operating system or control panel included?

Review the operating system and licence options on the selected plan’s order page. Root access lets you manage the server. Commercial operating systems, control panels and application licences follow the selected product’s scope and order total.

Who installs and maintains my application?

A VPS provides administrative access. You manage the operating system, applications, user permissions, updates and application security. If you need help with a particular installation or maintenance task, confirm the scope with us before buying.

How should I plan backups?

Keep separate application and database backups, protect their access and test a restore. Check snapshot availability and scope for your own plan. A copy on the same server does not replace an independent backup plan.

Can I upgrade later?

When your needs change, open a support ticket with your location and current plan. We can review the available plan, price and migration steps. A restart or data transfer may be required.

When can I connect after ordering?

After payment and the required order checks, follow provisioning in the client portal. Use your connection details when the service is ready. Contact us before ordering if your project depends on a specific delivery date.

Is there a trial or standard refund period?

Services are not offered with a trial or standard refund window. Review the resources, location, billing period and cancellation terms before ordering. If you are unsure, tell us what you need so we can help you choose.
