Your location decision
Proximity to users is a useful starting point. Your database, file storage or frequently called API may be in another region, though. Assess the actual transaction path, not just the homepage load.
Latency varies by provider and network route. Measure your own user and application scenario instead of relying on a fixed ping claim. Monthly transfer, port speed and datacenter uplink are also different measurements.
